Can you answer savis07’s question about Generators?:
I have a Onan Microlite 4000 RV generator and I have changed the starter, fuel filter, and fuel pump. I’m getting power to the positive end of the solenoid, but no power to the starter. When I press the start switch there is a clicking sound but the starter does not engage to the fly wheel(the fly wheel is free). I am getting no power to the to the starter poles. I touched one end of the positive side of the solenoid to the other pole of the solenoid and I got sparks. I’ve checked all connections, is it a possibility that the voltage regulator is bad or is it something else?

Generators Feedback: The solenoid is bad…. the voltage regulator is for recharging the battery only
Generators Feedback: It is the starter solenoid.
Generators Feedback: Just jump the battery straight to the starter to verify that it works. Note, you should get sparks due to the high current flowing when you make the connection. If this works, your solenoid would be bad. They are pretty cheap and can be found at most auto parts.
Generators Feedback: have a shop do a load test on the battery
Generators Feedback: Assuming you are at the generator control panel and not on the dash… you will have to assure that you have a good ground to the chassis of your motorhome… pull the spark plug on your gen and make sure it is not hydro locked…pull your car/truck up to the gen cubby hole and take your jumper cables and hook pos to pos and then hook up your grounds
and try again…. It should jumper if the starter is good and hooked up right…. good luck
